I know. It's seems almost a crime to limit yourself to just one type of anything...especially body jewelry! You can adorn virtually every part of your body with some sort of jewel, precious metal, or tribal inspired design. For each person the answer to this question will be different. What we discovered is that their choice was often related to the reasons that they chose certain types of body jewelry in the first place.
As an example, there were several respondents to our study that indicated that a nose ring or stud would be their top choice. The reasons varied. Some chose this type of nose piercing because it made them feel close to or identify with Eastern religion or its philosophy. They believed that it was an outward expression of their personal inner peace. Other reasons included the tradition that a jeweled nose was a reflection of a family's status.
Another popular body jewelry choice in our one option survey was belly rings. These have become very popular as a result of many celebrities exposing their middles with glamorous stones or diamonds. The most often cited reason related to fashion; however, the belief that a belly ring was viewed as sexy came in a close second.
Earring and Rings came in a tie for third place in our body jewelry hunt. Many were pleased with the wide variety of choices they have when it comes to styles, materials, and sizes. They enjoyed the fact that they could easily accessorize with this type of jewelry to match their outfit or their mood.
Honorable mention on our survey of body jewelry goes to nipple rings, toe rings, and tongue rings. Respondents felt that this type of jewelry for the body placed them outside of society's box of norms, a place that they were comfortable with. They wanted to express their individual spirits and felt body jewelry of this style allowed them to do that.
If You Could Only Have One Type of Body Jewelry What Would It Be?

Choosing the correct flat iron plate width for your hair length makes all the difference in your hairstyling time. With such a large variety of flat irons and hair straighteners on the market today, you might be wondering which plate width is best for you? The answer depends on your hair length more than your hairstyling needs. Most flat irons come with a standard 1-inch plate width, and you might be tempted, but if you match your hair length appropriately, you'll make the smarter decision.
One Inch for Everyone?
Sure, the 1-inch plate width will accommodate most hair styling needs, but it is really recommended for 'medium' length hair only. If your hair length is past your ears yet above your shoulders, (hint, it isn't considered 'short') the 1-inch plate width is probably your best bet. If your hair touches your shoulders or is longer, you should take your time to find a flat iron with a larger plate width. Not only will it cut down on your styling time, it will eliminate the need for multiple passes with the iron, thus reducing damage. If your hair is above your ears, find a plate width less than 1-inch, yes they do exist. But if your hair is medium length, the 1 inch is perfect for you. Some 1-inch irons you should check out are: CHI Original 1 Inch Flat Iron, GHD MK4 Hair Straightening and Styling Iron, FHI Technique 1-inch Flat Iron.
Long Locks, Larger Plates
For hair that sits on and below the shoulders, or is very thick, A) I'm jealous, and B) you should definitely choose a flat iron that's either 1-1/4-inches or more. I've seen them go as wide as 2-inches and these larger plates are great for creating smooth styles in seconds. Why go over a small section of hair with a 1-inch iron when you can plow through a chunk with a 2-inch bad boy? The styling time you save by using an iron with larger plates will free up a few extra minutes in your day and will reduce the damage you normally cause by going over the same section of hair multiple times. Some of my wide-width wonders are: HAI2 Ceramic 2-1/4 Inch Flat Iron, GHD Ceramic Salon 2 Inch Hair Straightener, CHI Turbo Ceramic 2 Inch Flat Iron, HAI Convertable 1-1/4 Inch Flat Iron.
Short Styles, Slim Widths
Slimmer plate widths are perfect for shorter hairstyles. If your hair is above your ears or if you have bangs, a slim 3/4 inch plate width is perfect for you. When styling hair so close to your skin and scalp you should make sure you have the control a thinner plate width provides. If you hair is only a few inches away from your head, you wouldn't want to go any larger than necessary. Too much hair-to-heat contact will only fry those delicate strands. Plus, if you're a guy with unruly curls, give it a try...(umh, hello SANJAYA), you might be pleasantly surprised! Check out these fab finds: HAI Twig 3/8 Inch Flat Iron, WEE CHI 1/2 Inch Flat Iron, Miniglide.
Though the size of the plates you choose really depend on your personal preference, by taking the time to do a little research, you might find there is a better flat iron more suited for you and your hair length.

If you have dry hair, homemade shampoo could be the answer to having the hair of your dreams. These days there are so many scary chemicals and toxins in shampoo which are too harsh and can actually do your hair more harm than good.
The problem of having dry hair is commonly misunderstood. Sometimes people think that there is something wrong with their hair, but I say that it's the shampoo that is to blame.
Regular Shampoos are very effective at removing the dirt and odors that build up in our hair, but the trouble is they also strip out the natural oils in your hair. This leaves it too dry and therefore it can become prone to breakages and split ends.
If you are looking to overcome these problems then the best solution is to tailor your cleaning regime to suit your hair. This brings me onto what I consider the golden secret to overcoming dry hair. (Drum roll please).
Dry hair can be fixed in as little as a week or two if you just follow these 2 rules religiously: -
1) Always make both your own homemade shampoo and homemade conditioner. (When you make shampoo at home you have complete control of what you put in your hair).
2) Try using shampoo more sparingly. For example try the cleaning ritual explained below.
If you need some shampoo recipe ideas, they're all over the web and you should try as many as necessary until you find the perfect one for you.
A Homemade Shampoo Cleaning Ritual To Try
Something that's often ignored is the fact that the way you use your homemade shampoo and conditioner is probably more important than anything.
Here are some techniques for treating dry hair: -
1) Wash your hair with conditioner only. This will help prevent the stripping out of all the oil from your hair, which although sounding grim, will make your hair much stronger.
2) Before washing your hair make a protein pack and leave it in your hair for a few hours. These can be made pretty simply by combining any of the following ingredients: raw egg/mayonnaise, coconut oil, banana, avocado, & honey.
3) Dilute your shampoo with water.
4) Leave a moisturizing conditioner in your hair for a good hour or two.
